About this tool

Sending someone the two pages they asked for, rather than the forty-page report they did not, is usually a matter of pulling out a range. This tool builds a new document from the pages you name.

Ranges are written the way you would say them: "1-3,7" means the first three pages and the seventh, and "9-" means from page nine to the end.

How to use it

  1. Choose a .pdf file. Its page count and previews appear below.
  2. Write the pages to keep, for example 1-3,5 or 9-.
  3. Select Convert, then download the new document.

Limitations

  • One document is produced, containing the pages you named in the order you named them. Splitting into several separate files at once is not supported.
  • Form fields, signatures, bookmarks, and internal links are not preserved.
  • Password-protected documents cannot be opened.
  • Pages are copied whole. There is no way to crop or extract part of a page.
  • A page number beyond the end of the document is rejected rather than ignored, so a typo does not silently produce the wrong file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded?
No. The split runs entirely in your browser. The document never leaves your device.
How do I write a range?
Use numbers and dashes separated by commas. "2" is one page, "2-5" is four pages, "5-" runs to the end, and "-3" starts from the first page. They can be combined: "1,4-6,10-".
Can I reverse the pages?
Yes. Pages come out in the order you write them, so 3,2,1 produces a reversed document. The reorder tool is easier for anything more involved.
Does the file get smaller?
Usually, but not in proportion. Fonts and images shared across the document may be carried into the new file even if only some pages used them.
